Sinuportahan ni Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte ang hakbang ng kapatid nito na si Education Secretary at Vice President Sara Duterte na repasuhin ang K-12 program.
Ayon sa mambabatas kailangan pagbutihin ang kasalukuyang curriculum upang makapag-produce ng mga mag-aaral na competent, job-ready, at responsable.
Mahalaga rin aniya na maglatag ang kongreso ng mga hakbang para tiyaking employment ready ang mga graduate at tugunan ang ‘job mismatch’ sa bansa.
“Millions of students that will graduate or have recently graduated from senior high school or college will either get a job that suits their skills or one where they are overqualified or underqualified. But many will still find themselves jobless because their skills are not commensurate to the demands in the job market. This translates into wasted opportunities and lower-than-expected returns on education investments, which negatively affect the productivity and competitiveness of our workforce,” ani Duterte.
Matatandaan na una nang nagpahayag ng pagkabahala ang business sector sa kasalukuyang sitwasyon ng edukasyon sa Pilipinas na pinalala pa ng pandemya.
Umapela naman ang Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) na kailangan nang maka-adapt o makasabay ang education system ng bansa sa technology-driven employment landscape.
Kaya umaasa si Duterte na mapagtibay bilang batas ang ilang panukala para tugunan ito gaya ng House Bill 7400 o institutionalization ng enterprise-based education and training program at House Bill 7370 na bubuo sa tripartite council na tutugon sa job-skills mismatch. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
