“My heart swells with pride as we celebrate the astounding victory of our women’s national football team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. They have made history today…The exceptional Sarina Bolden marked our nation’s first-ever World Cup goal, leaving an indelible mark in Philippine sports history.”
“To the rest of the team and to everyone who supported them, thank you for showing the world the strength and spirit of the Filipino. As we continue to shake up Group A, let this victory remind us that with hard work, unity, and a determined spirit, we can make the impossible, possible.
“This victory has certainly marked a significant milestone in Philippine football history as it showcased the unwavering determination, resilience, and skill of our talented Filipina players. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport have paid off in the most spectacular way, proving that with teamwork and belief, anything is possible. This victory not only serves as a testament to the potential of Philippine women’s football but also inspires generations of aspiring athletes to pursue their dreams fearlessly and strive for excellence. I am very proud especially to fellow Davaoeña Sara Eggesvik who facilitated the assist for that one historic goal of Sarina Bolden,” ani Nograles.
“I send our resounding congratulations and continuing homeland cheers to our national women’s football team! I am confident their historic win over the much higher ranked New Zealand contingent will energize them in their next match which will be against Norway on July 30, Sunday, so they can take the lead in their group and advance to the Round of 16,” saad ni Alonte. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
