Ikinagalak at pinasalamatan ni Senate Committee on Energy Chairperson Senador Raffy Tulfo ang Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) sa paglalabas nito ng kautusan na suspendihin ang pagpasa ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) ng three percent franchise tax sa mga konsumer.
Giit ni Tulfo, ang naturang desisyon ay magreresulta ng mas mababang monthly electricity bill ng mga konsumer.
Una nang sinabi ng ERC na ang suspensyon ng three percent pass-on tax ay magbubunga ng nasa one centavo per kilowatt-hour na bawas sa bill ng mga konsumer.
kasabay naman nito hinikayat ng senador ang ERC na agad at epektibong ipatupad ang naturang kautusan para hindi na pasanin ng mga consumer ang tax na hindi naman dapat nila binabayaran.
Maliban dito, una na ring hinikayat ng mambabatas ang ERC na ikonsidera ang pagpapataw ng regular income tax na 30 percent sa NGCP. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
