Pinakilos ni Speaker Martin Romualdez ang House Committee on Appropriations na makipag-ugnayan sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM), na mahanapan ng pondo ang pantulong para sa mga rice trader na apektado ng price cap.
Matatandaan na sa ilalim ng Executive Order 39, pinatawan ng P41 at P45 na price ceiling ang regular at well milled rice.
Ngunit ang mga rice retailer ay dumaing na mas mababa ang price cap kaysa sa halaga na kanilang nabili ang suplay ng bigas.
Bunsod nito, pinahahanapan na ni Romualdez ng P2 billion na pondo ang ilalaang ayuda para sa apektadong rice retailers na huhugutin sa 2023 national budget
“Our goal is to ensure that we can extend assistance to rice retailers who may be affected by this rice price ceiling, as it is a directive from our President aimed at protecting consumers,” ani Romualdez.
Agad naman tumalima si Appropriations Committee Chair Elizaldy Co, at nakipag-ugnayan kay Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman para hanapan ng paraan na mapondohan ang naturang ayuda.
