Ipinagmalaki ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos ang epektibong paggastos ng ahensya sa kanilang pondo matapos na maabot ang 98% na budget disbursement para sa unang bahagi ng 2023.
Ayon sa kalihim, katumbas ito ng ₱139.3-bilyong nagamit na pondo ng ahensya mula sa ₱141.2-bilyong pondong nakalaan para sa unang semester ng taon.
“We assure you that the DILG is prudent in utilizing the funds intended for their allocated purpose. The Department ensures transparency in financial management following existing auditing rules and regulations,” ani Abalos.
Sa pagharap ng kalihim sa 2024 Budget Hearing sa kamara, iniulat nitong ₱123.5-bilyong pondo ang napunta sa Personnel Services; ₱15.642-bilyon sa maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE); at ₱2.055-billion naman sa capital outlay.
Samantala, sa ilalim naman ng 2024 budget proposal ng DILG, nasa ₱7-billion ang alokasyon para sa capital outlay na target ilaan sa dagdag na information at technology equipment sa ilalim ng Information Systems Strategic Plan; konstruksyon ng DILG Regional Offices sa Region IV-B, VI, at II, fire stations, jail facilities, police stations, classrooms at dormitories; at pabili ng karagdagang motor vehicles at firetrucks. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
