Kinumpirma ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez na nakausap niya sa isang pribadong pulong si Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, ang legal counsel ni Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves, Jr.
Dito ay ipinaabot aniya ni Atty. Topacio ang mensahe at alinlangan ni Rep. Teves hinggil sa kanIyang sitwasyon.
Ngunit nanindigan ang House leader sa kanyang panawagan sa kasamahang mambabatas na umuwi na ng Pilipinas.
Muli ring tiniyak ni Romualdez na gagawin niya at ng buong House leadership ang lahat ng hakbang upang matiyak ang ligtas na pag-uwi ni Teves.
“The legal counsel of, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, sought a private meeting with me Wednesday night to personally relay some concerns of his client. In that meeting, I reiterated my stand that Cong. Arnie should return to the country and report for work at once…I also reiterated the assurance that the Speaker and the entire House leadership will exert all means necessary to pave the way for Cong. Arnie’s safe return to the country.” saad ni Speaker Romualdez.
Sa liham na ipinadala ni Rep. Arnie Teves sa Kamara, humingi ito ng dalawang buwang extension para sa leave of absence dahil sa ‘very grave security threat’ sa kaniya at kaniyang pamilya.
Pero patuloy ang panawagan ni Romualdez kay Teves na i-rekonsidera ang desisyon na hindi umuwi, dahil mas lalo aniyang nakakasama sa kaniya ang patuloy na pagtatago.
