Inudyukan ni Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte ang Department of Energy na aksyunan na ang pagtatatag ng strategic petroleum reserve program (SPRP) upang maibsan ang epekto ng global oil shock sa bansa.
Ayon kay Villafuerte, 2021 nang ilabas ng noo’y Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi ang Department Circular 28 para itatag ang Philippine Crude Oil and/or Finished Petroleum Products and Biofuel Reserve ngunit hanggang ngayon ay wala pang pag-usad.
Aniya kung maitatayo ang SPRP magsisilbi itong “cushion” o paraan para ibsan ang magiging epekto ng taas presyo ng produktong petrolyo at bilihin lalo na sa low-income families.
Sa SPRP, magkakaroon ng fuel reserve ang bansa upang kahit magtaas ng presyo ng langis sa world market ay may suplay pa rin ng krudo ang bansa na hindi maiimpluwensyahan ng world market.
Ngayong linggo lang ay nagkaroon ng pulong ang Kamara at oil industry players kasama ang DOE para hanapan ng solusyon ang nasa ika-11 linggo na ng taas presyo ng produktong petrolyo.
