Hiniling ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte kay Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Brigadier General Redrico Maranan na ibalik na sa pwesto ang nasibak na pulis na si Executive Master Sergeant Verdo Pantollano dahil sa viral video na pagpapahinto ng trapiko sa Commonwealth Avenue.
Ginawa ng alkalde ang panawagan matapos sabihin ni Acting Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Rolando Artes na normal lang ang pagbibigay ng kortesiya sa VIPs sa mga pampublikong kalsada lalo sa Presidente, Vice President, at foreign dignitaries na bumibisita sa bansa.
Katunayan, nagsasagawa pa umano ang MMDA ng traffic management plan kapag may VIP para maiwasan ang buhol-buhol na trapiko.
“We extend courtesy especially to the President and Vice President because they have security concerns and not for anything else, privilege and entitlement,” paliwanag ni Artes.
Ayon kay Mayor Belmonte, nagdesisyon itong magsalita matapos ang paglilinaw ng MMDA at hindi rin pagpapataw ng parusa sa MMDA personnel na present din sa naturang viral video.
“Following the clarification made by Chairman Artes, I feel that an injustice was committed against Pantollano and must be rectified, regardless of who the VIP was. The cop must be reinstated as he was simply doing his job,” ani Mayor Belmonte. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
