Paglalabas ng mga imported na asukal sa merkado, ipinatigil ng SRA

Iniutos ngayon ng Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) ang pagpapatigil sa distribusyon at conversion ng mga imported na asukal.

Alinsunod ito sa ilalim ng inilabas nitong Sugar Order 7 upang mapigilan ang pagbagsak ng farm gate price sa asukal ngayong harvest season.

Sa naturang kautusan, mananatili munang “reserved” ang klasipikasyon ng 150,000 metric tons (MT) ng imported sugar.

“The Sugar Board deemed it necessary to hold in abeyance all applications of conversion and maintain the classification of all imported sugar as ‘Reserved,’” ayon sa kautusan.

Umaasa ang SRA na sa tulong ng naturang hakbang ay mapapanatiling stable ang farmgate price ng raw sugar na nasa ₱3,000 kada bag.

Layon din nitong maprotektahan ang interes ng local sugar farmers at millers.

“Importers were given one month, or not later than Oct. 15, 2023, from actual arrival of shipment and reclassification to completely distribute their allocations and submit to SRA within 30 calendar days thereafter written proof of compliance to the said actual distribution,” nakasaad sa naturang sugar order. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
