Senado, pinagtibay ang resolusyon para imbitahan si Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio sa joint session ng Senado at Kamara

Nagsagawa ng special session ang senado ngayong araw ng sabado para sa gagawing pagtanggap ng Kongreso ng Pilipinas kay Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio kaninang alas-11:00 ng umaga.

Nasa 17 na senador ang present sa special session, kung saan 6 ang physically present habang ang 11 ay virtually present.

Kasama sa mga physically present sina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Senador Lito Lapid, Senador Mark Villar, Senador Robin Padilla, at Senador Francis Tolentino.

Inaprubahan na ng Senado ang Senate resolution 851 para buksan ang sesyon ng Senado; Senate concurrent resolution no. 15 para imbitahan si Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio na i-address ang Kongreso para sa isang special joint session ng Philippine Congress; at ang House concurrent reso no.17 para sa pagsasaga ng joint special session ng Senado at Kamara.

Ayon kay Senate President Zubiri, inimbitahan nila si PM Kishida nang bumisita ang Philippine Senate delegation sa Tokyo noong April 2023.

Inimbitahan aniya nila si Kishida dahil ang Japan ang isa sa mga pinakamalapit na kaibigan ng Pilipinas at sila rin ang bansang nagbibigay ng pinakamataas na official development assistance (ODA) sa Pilipinas.

Marami rin aniyang mga Japanese company ang nasa Pilipinas kaya maikokonsidera silang contributor sa mataas na growth rate ng ating bansa.

Nagpasalamat naman si Zubiri sa pagtanggap ni Prime Minister Kishida sa imbitasyon nilang bumisita dito sa ating bansa. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
