Speaker Romualdez nagbigay ng tulong sa pamilya ng pinaslang na radio broadcaster na si Juan Jumalon

Nagpaabot ng tulong si Speaker Martin Romualdez sa naiwang pamilya ni Juan Jumalon, ang radio broadcaster na pinaslang habang nagpo-programa sa Calamba, Misamis Occidental.

Aniya, batid niyang mahirap bumangon mula sa trahedya lalo at si Jumalon ang breadwinner ng pamilya.

“After suddenly losing a breadwinner, it’s really difficult for a family to pick up the pieces and carry on with their lives,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

Si Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) Undersecretary Paul Gutierrez ang personal na nag-abot ng P250,000 tulong sa pamilya ni Jumalon, mas kilala bilang si DJ Johnny Walker.

Nagpasalamat naman ang mga kaanak ng pinaslang na brodkaste kay Speaker Romualdez at sa iba pang tumulong sa kanila gaya ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., provincial government ng Misamis Occidental, at Philippine National Police (PNP).

Sinampahan na ng kasong murder ang mga suspek.

Kasabay nito ay muling tiniyak ni Romualdez na sisiguruhin ng Kongreso na bigyang proteksyon ang fourth estate mula sa walang kabuluhang mga pagpatay at karahasan.

“No matter what the motive is behind this killing, the Philippine media lost another one of its members, and we don’t want this to keep on happening…They must not live in fear just because of their chosen profession,” sabi ni Romualdez.
