Pansamantalang pagbawas sa import duty sa natural gypsum, anhydrite, pinayagan ng Malacañang

Ibinaba ng Office of the President ang Executive Order no. 46 na nag-uutos sa pag-modify ng rate ng import duty para sa natural gypsum at anhydrite, o iyong mga pangunahing raw materials para sa paggawa ng plasterboards at semento na ginagamit sa konstruksyon.

Base sa kautusan, layon ng hakbang na ito na i-revitalize at pataasin ang competitiveness ng plasterboard at cement industry sa bansa.

Makakatulong rin ito sa pagsuporta sa housing at infra projects sa Pilipinas.

“At present, there are no operating mines of natural gypsum and anhydrite in the country, and there are also no local substitute for said products that are available for domestic producers of plasterboards and cement,” — EO.

“For this purpose, the NEDA shall submit to the President, through the Office of the Executive Secretary, its findings and recommendations on the matter, including analysis and monitoring of the gypsum and anhydrite market,” — EO.

Pirmado ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin ang EO ikatlo ng Nobyembre at magiging epektibo 30 araw matapos mailathala sa mga pahayagan.

Mananatili itong epektibo sa loob ng limang taon at sasailalim sa annual review.
