Panukalang half-cup rice, itutulak muli sa Kamara

Planong buhayin ni Iloilo Representative Janette Garin ang panukala na magkaroon ng half rice serving sa mga kainan.

Ito aniya ay para na rin mabawasan ang food waste o pagkasayang sa pagkain at maisulong ang balanse at mas malusog na eating habits.

“The bill on serving half-cup rice in restaurants nationwide shall be revived and passed in Congress to minimize food waste, promote balanced and sustainable eating habits and ensuring healthier meal portions.” sabi ni Garin

Matatandaan na itinutulak ngayon ng Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) na maibalik ang half cup rice rule sa mga kainan.

Una nang naghain ng ganitong panukala si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. noong siya ay senador pa lamang.

Maliban dito, pinakokonsidera din ni Garin sa mga restaurant na gawing alternatibo ang sweet potato o kamote para sa dagdag na nutritional value.

Kung maipapatupad sa buong bansa ay makatutulong din aniya ito sa kabuhayan ng mga magsasaka ng kamote.
