Nanawagan si House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa Senado na maging mahinahon sa pagbibigay pahayag sa kanilang posisyon sa usapin ng people’s initiative (PI) at pag-amyenda sa ating saligang batas.
Ito ay dahil na rin sa mga maaanghang na pahayag ng mga senador dahil sa pagkwestyon sa kredibilidad ng gumugulong na Peoples’ Initiative.
Apela pa ng House leader na itigil na ang mga alegasyon laban sa Kongreso kung wala naman silang basehan at pairalin ang interparliamentary courtesy.
Hindi na rin aniya nila ito papatulan bagkus ay nanawagan para sa pagkakaisa dahil para naman ito sa kapakanan ng mga Pilipino.
“The House of Representatives despite a very very toxic rhetoric coming out from the senate, we would like to suggest the leadership to exercise parliamentary courtesy and that they behave more properly kasi kung ano-ano ang lumalabas diyan. Hindi naman natin pinapatulan. Kasi wala namang basehan so we do not dignify statements that are caused to instigate debates, very divisive yet we respond with a call for unity, sobriety and we want to work together in solidarity kasi at the end of the day, whatever __ we have, we should set them aside and work together for the betterment of the Filipinos.” saad ni Romualdez
Saad pa niya na kung may kwestyon sa PI ay dalhin ito sa COMELEC o angkop na forum imbes na magsiraan.
Muling tiniyak ni Romualdez sa mga Senador na wala silang dapat ikatakot dahil susuportahan nila ang Resolution of Both Houses 6.
“…we can sense that there is this agitation, the temper, the manner in which privilege speeches are coming out of the senate, we are bit bewildered as to where this is all coming from. But to allay these fears or to mitigate any anxiety that PI that is being undertaken is causing, we would like to reassure our friends in the senate that we are one with them and if they want to embark on an RBH, which they announced that they would do, immediately we are there with them solidly behind them.
