Umabot na sa higit 3.3 milyong benepisyaryo ang natutulungan ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa ilalim ng inisyatibo nitong Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
Layon ng programa na maiangat ang mga Pilipinong nasa vulnerable at marginalized sector sa pamamagitan ng pagkakaloob sa kanila ng start-up capital para sa maliliit na negosyo.
Ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary for Specialized Programs under the Operations Group and concurrent SLP OIC Florentino Loyola Jr., tumugon ang SLP sa iba’t ibang krisis na nangyari sa bansa kabilang ang Marawi Siege, ilang buwang pagsasara ng Boracay, at ang pagpapatupad ng rice price cap.
May dalawang track ang SLP kabilang ang Microenterprise Development Track (MDT) kung saan hanggang ₱15,000 capital assistance ang matatanggap ng benepisyaryo.
Ikalawa naman ang Employment Facilitation Track (EFT), kung saan naglalaan ng ₱5,000 tulong ang DSWD sa mga mahihirap na first time job seeker.
“Para ikaw ay mapabilang sa SLP, kinakailangan na ikaw ay kabilang sa Listahanan database o kaya ay isa kang 4Ps beneficiary. Subalit kung wala kayo sa dalawang nabanggit subalit kayo ay mahirap, ang SLP ang magsasagawa ng “means test” o ang mag-check sa inyong katayuan kung kayo ay qualified,” pahayag ni Asst. Sec.
