Naniniwala si Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General, Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu na malaki ang ginagampanang parte ng mga local government unit para maisakatuparan ang kanilang tech-voc training sa lebel ng komunidad.
Ayon kay Mangudadatu ang ‘TESDA Sa Barangay’ ay maaaring maging strategic pathways para maisalin ang global aspirations ng United Nations at maging local action sa bawat munisipalidad sa bansa.
Kasabay nito ay ipinakilala ng kalihim ang TESDA Sa Barangay” program na siyang magpapalawak ng sakop ng TESDA sa mga barangay gayundin na mas makilala pa ang technical vocational education and training (TVET) sa komunidad para mas maraming Pilipino ang makinabang.
Ang TESDA sa barangay ang siyang aksyon ng TESDA para himukin ang mga lokal na pamahalaan na mag-invest sa kanilang TVET sector sa pamamagitan ng pagsasagawa ng training programs sa mas mababang mga kwalipikasyon gaya ng NC I at NC II, para na rin sa kapakinabangan ng kanilang mga nasasakupan.
Matapos nito ay magbibigay naman ang TESDA ng mas maraming diploma programs o higher-level TVET qualifications sa oras na mag-offer na ang LGUs ng lower-level qualifications.
Giit ni Mangudadatu na ang TVET ay dapat tingnan bilang isang investment sa human capital development, dahil pinalalakas nito ang tsansa na magkatrabaho o ma-hire sa trabaho ang publiko at kapasidad ng isang indibidwal na maghanap ng trabaho o mag-negosyo kung saan ito naman ang magbibigay daan para makatulong ang mga ito sa ekonomiya ng bansa. | ulat ni Lorenz Tanjoco
