Nagpaalala ang Philippine Red Cross (PRC) sa publiko na maging ligtas laban sa mga sakit na maaaring makuha dahil sa mainit na panahon, partikular na ang heat stroke.
Kaugnay nito, nagbigay ng tatlong pamamaraan ang PRC sa publiko na maaaring gawin upang maiwasan ang mga heat-related emergencies.
Ayon kay PRC Chairman at CEO Richard Gordon, una ay dapat panatilihing hydrated ang katawan at umiwas sa matatamis na inimum gaya ng soft drinks, ikalawa ay manatili sa mga air-conditioned o well-ventilated na mga lugar, at ikatlo ay magsuot ng mga lightweight o light-colored na mga damit.
Nagpaalala rin si Gordon sa publiko na kapag nagpakita ng sintomas ng heat stroke ang isang indibidwal gaya ng hindi pinapawisan at pamumula ng balat ay dapat na dalhin ang ito sa mas malamig na lugar o ‘di kaya maaaring tumawag sa PRC Hotline 143.
Tiniyak naman ng PRC na nakahandang rumesponde 24/7 ang kanilang Emergency Medical Services team at ang kanilang ambulance services sakaling magkaroon ng emergency. | ulat ni Diane Lear
