Matagal nang plinano ng Pilipinas, Estados Unidos, Australia, at Japan ang multilateral maritime cooperative activity sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Ayon kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., malaking tulong ang mga ganitong aktibidad lalo na sa linya ng interoperability ng apat na bansa.
“The cruises that we are doing, something that have been planned for a long time, the interim reports that I am getting is that very useful talaga in terms of the interoperability.” — Pangulong Marcos.
Sa ganitong paraan, mababatid aniya ng mga bansa kung papaano nag-o-operate ang navy ng mga kabalikat nito.
Sa pamamagitan din nito, matututunan ng US, Japan, Australia, at Pilipinas, kung papaano mag-operate nang sama-sama.
“So that each navy knows how the other navy operates, number one. And, secondly, that they learn how to operate together. So, maganda naman daw ang takbo.” — Pangulong Marcos.
Kaugnay naman sa pagsabay ng combat patrol ng China, ayon kay Pangulong Marcos, hindi na niya ikinagulat ang reaksyon na ito ng China.
