Kaisa si Speaker Martin Romuladez sa bumabati at kumikilala kay Samantha Kyle Catantan matapos itong makapasok sa 2024 Summer Olympics na gaganapin sa Paris, France.
Aniya, isa itong historic achivement ng bente dos-anyos na Pinay fencer, na sumunod sa yapak ni Walter Torres, ang huling Pinoy fencer na nakarating sa Olympics noong 1992 Barcelona Games.
“It fills my heart with immense pride to congratulate Samantha for her historic achievement in qualifying for the Paris games at the young age of 22. This is an impressive feat from our kababayan. You can always trust a Filipina to proudly carry our nation’s flag,” ani Speaker Romualdez.
Si Catantan, isang right-handed foil fencer, ay nakapasok sa Olympics matapos mangibabaw sa kanyang kategorya sa Asia-Oceania Zonal Olympic Qualifier na ginanap sa Fujairah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Considering Samantha wasn’t even born when the last Filipino fencer competed in the Olympics, her journey to the games is nothing short of legendary.
