Para kay 1-Rider Party-list Representative Rodge Gutierrez, hindi masasabing patay na ang isinusulong na Economic Charter Change hindi man ito maaksyunan ng Senado bago ang sine die adjournment.
Ito ang tugon ng mambabatas mula sa minority bloc matapos mahingan ng reaksyon sa pahayag ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri na hindi prayoridad ng Senado ang Economic Cha-Cha dahil tututukan nila ang 20 LEDAC Priority Bills sa nalalabing araw ng 2nd Regular Session ng 19th Congress.
“The sentiments of the Senate President, hindi po priority yung constitutional change before Sine Die adjournment, I would say, technically that wouldn’t mean na patay na po iyong economic revisions kasi I think the question here is only yung timing,” ani Gutierrez.
Para sa mambabatas kaya nila nais matapos sa sine die adjournment ang Economic Cha-Cha ay upang hindi mahaluan ng politika sa paparating na 2025 Midterm Elections.
Ngunit kung gagamitin ang Constituent Assembly na siyang bersyon ng Kamara at Senado, ay may sapat pa ring oras para maikasa ang Economic Cha-Cha at makapagsagawa ng plebesito.
“..If we recall doon po sa Con Ass which is the current version that what we’re going for after passing this dito sa Congress which is both the House and the Senate, magkakaroon po ng plebiscite not earlier than 60 days but not later than the 90 days. So, it’s still possible naman po, let’s say hindi po mapasa ito before sine die adjournment,… like before the end of the election meron tayong pagbobotohan,” giit ng mambabatas.
Tulad aniya ng sinabi ng Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, hahayaan nila na manguna ang Senado sa Economic Cha-Cha ngunit umaasa pa rin si Gutierriez na matuloy ang amyenda sa economic provisions ng Saligang Batas dahil para aniya ito sa kapakanan ng mga Pilipino.
“…If they want to follow their own schedule, if they don’t want to be limited by sine die adjournment, if they are going to pass it later on in the year. As long as feasible, nandito pa rin po yung House to support. Pero importante lang po talaga sa atin is that the economic provisions ideally will be pursued, para sa bayan naman po ito, para sa tao,” paliwanag ng 1-Rider Party-list solon. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
