One year and 5 months old Conjoined Twins Ayeesha and Akhiza of Davao del Norte are set to leave the country this Sunday, May 5, 2024, for their operation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A significant all-expense-paid project that was issued under the Royal Decree which contains the gracious approval from His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the said Kingdom.
According to their mother Hashima Yusoph, 19 y.o., separated, she had been struggling too since they were born. She gives her endless thanks to her parents, Norely and Arnel Yusoph, and her siblings for helping her taking care of her twins.
Norely, a native of Bayang, Lanao del Sur, the grandmother of the twins, will be accompanying Hashima throughout the said operation in the Kingdom. She added that she might have considered having his husband by their side, but they too have young children and they only look forward for his daily income from driving his tricycle.
Nonetheless, the Yusoph family, despite their unfortunate situation in life, took the chance from Saudi Arabia government for the said rare opportunity to end the suffering of the baby twins.
With this, Hashima is very positive for a successful operation and she is very excited to see her twins doing what normal kids do; play, eat, walk on their own among others. She also added that she can’t wait to have a new start, to finish her studies and have a good job to help provide for her kids.
The Yusoph family, is extending also their gratefulness to His Majesty and the whole kingdom for the opportunity. They also wish to thank all their well-wishers, the people of Mercy Foundation in Davao City and asked everyone to continue praying for the twins.
Senator Richard Gordon, who was also present, said that it is truly a very strong gesture from the Saudi government to help the twins which he said is a very remarkable act.
Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia Ambassador to the Philippines HE Hisham S.A. Alqahtani notes that this operation will have a positive outcome following the first successful separation operation too last 2004 from the country. Ambassador mentions of more than 60 separation operation from various countries provided by the kingdom. Accordingly, this another noble act from the kingdom shows a great alliance with the Philippines.
Yusoph twins have only one liver which the family confirms and that accordingly it is rather an easier operation for their condition compare to others. Along with this, all necessary treatments, services and procedures as well as transportation and accommodation for Yusoph family during the treatment period will also be provided by the Kingdom.| via Princess Habiba Sarip-Paudac
