Asahan na pagsapit ng Hulyo ay makakabili na ng bigas na mas mababa sa trenta pesos kada kilo ang presyo.
Ito ang inanunsyo ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez matapos makipag-pulong kay Agriculture Sec. Francisco Tiu-Laurel.
Ayon kay Speaker Romualdez, bagaman nagbababaan na ang presyo ng ibang mga batayan bilihin ang bigas at maging karne ng baboy ay nananatiling mataas.
At ito aniya ang kanilang tututukan na mapababa ang presyo.
Paliwanag ni Sec. Laurel, nakatali sa ngayon ang kamay ng DA at maging ng National Food Authority (NFA) dahil sa umiiral na mga batas gaya na lang ng Rice Tariffication Law.
Ngunit dahil sa napipintong amyenda nito na dinidinig na sa kamara at nakatakda ring sertipikahan bilang urgent ng Pangulo ay maisasakatuparan ang pagpapababa ng presyo ng bigas sa mga pamilihan.
“…nakatali yung kamay ng DA and NFA due to yung certain law that we have existing. So meron tayong pinababago sa batas at hopefully ma-pass ng Congress ito para mabigyan ng leeway na mag intervene ang DA at NFA sa issue sa bigas.” Paliwanag ni Sec. Tiu.
Plano ng DA na maibenta ang well-milled rice sa mga Kadiwa Stores sa mga tutukuying lugar ng ahensya limang araw kada linggo. Depende sa rice supply ng NFA.
“Starting in July, some of these KADIWA centers will be operational in specific regions and will offer affordable, well-milled rice five days a week. The operation of these centers will depend on the rice supply available to the National Food Authority. Gradually, we aim to increase the number of KADIWA centers across the country with assistance from local government officials. Many have volunteered to provide public spaces for these centers,” ani Sec. Tiu
Ani Romualdez, oras na mapagtibay ang amyenda sa Rice Tariffication Law ay maipapatupad ito sa iba pang lugar sa bansa.
“We are confident that it is possible to offer rice below P30 per kilo as early as July this year. The Department of Agriculture is currently identifying the areas where affordable, well-milled rice will be made available to the public. Although we cannot yet achieve this throughout the entire country, we can start in selected areas identified by the Department of Agriculture. We hope that this initiative will soon reach all parts of the country, especially after the amendment of the Rice Tariffication Law,” ani Speaker Romualdez.
Kasabay nito ay muling umapela si Speaker Romualdez sa Senado na agad askyunan ang amyenda sa RTL upang makamit ang hangarin ng Marcos Jr. administration na makapagbigay ng abot kayang bilihin para sa mga Pilipino.| ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
