Ipinapanukala ni Senador Francis Tolentino ang pagkakaroon ng isang sistema para mapangasiwaan ang seguridad ng mga classified information sa lahat ng mga tanggapan ng gobyerno.

Sa naging pagdinig ng Senado tungkol sa sinasabing pag-leak ng impormasyon ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), napag-alaman ng senador na wala pang batas na nagtuturing na krimen sa pagsasapubliko ng mga sensitibo o mga top secret information ng gobyerno.

Ang meron lang aniya ay parusa para sa mga kawani ng pamahalaan na maglalabas ng mga sensitibong impormasyon at wala para sa mga pribadong indibidwal na gagawa nito.

Kaya naman inihain ni Tolentino ang Senate Bill 2667 o ang National Security Information Clearance Bill na layong maglatag ng standardized system para sa paghahawak at pagtatago ng mga secret, top secret, at confidential information ng gobyerno.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, papatawan ng parusang kulong na mula 12 to 20 years ang mga kawani ng pamahalaan na maglalabas ng impormasyon nang walang authorization, dagdag pa ang administrative liability nito, disqualification sa public office, at forfeiture ng retirement benefits.

Habang ang mga pribadong indibidwal naman ay papatawan ng 6 to 12 years na parusang kulong. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
