Patuloy ang isinasagawang pagbabantay ng Department of Health (DOH) sa posibleng pagtaas ng kaso ng dengue kasunod ng naitatalang pag-plateau ng mga kaso matapos ang dati nitong pagbaba.
Sa pinakahuling datos, halos hindi nagbago ang bilang ng kaso sa loob ng tatlo hanggang apat na linggo (5,368 kaso mula Mayo 14-31 kumpara sa 5,305 mula Abril 30 – Mayo 13), kaya’t muling binibigyang-diin ng DOH ang kahalagahan ng pag-alis ng “mosquito water” o tubig na posibleng pamahayan ng mga lamok na nagdadala ng dengue.
Makikita rin ang pagtaas ng kaso sa pitong rehiyon, kasama na ang Cordillera at Ilocos. Hinikayat naman ng DOH ang mga ospital na agad magbigay ng ulat ng mga kaso upang makatulong sa mga hakbang pangkalusugan.
Tinatayang umabot na sa 70,498 cases ng dengue ang naitala sa buong bansa mula pagpasok ng taon hanggang nitong June 1 habang umabot na sa 197 na ang namatay dahil dito.
Nanawagan naman si Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa sa publiko na puksain ang mga pamahayan ng lamok at gumamit ng proteksyon laban sa kagat nito.
Para sa mga sintomas tulad ng mataas na lagnat at pananakit ng kasu-kasuan, agad na magpakonsulta upang maiwasan ang severe dengue, ayon sa DOH. | ulat ni EJ Lazaro
