Nagsanib-puwersa ang Grab Philippines at BYD Cars Philippines upang pag-aralan ang paggamit ng electric vehicles (EVs) sa ride-hailing dito sa Metro Manila.
Gamit sa nasabing pilot study ang BYD Dolphin EV para sa isang buwang pag-aaral para tingnan ang operational feasibility ng EV’s sa fleet ng Grab.
Susuriin sa trial na ito ang battery, driving range, at economic impact nito sa mga driver.
Sa pahayag ni EJ Dela Vega, Head ng Mobility ng Grab, binanggit nito ang kahalagahan ng inisyatiba upang makamit ang layunin ng Grab na maging carbon neutral pagsapit ng 2040. Magbibigay din umano ang isasagawang pag-aaral sa mga datos na gagabay sa hinaharap para sa pagsama ng EVs sa ride-hailing, at magtataguyod ng mas sustainable na mobility ecosystem sa bansa para sa lahat ng transport stakeholders.
Ipinaliwanag din ni Toti Zara ng ACMobility na ang pilot study ay mahalagang hakbang tungo sa malawakang paggamit ng EVs sa Pilipinas.
Sinusuportahan naman ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ang inisyatibang ito sa pangunguna ni Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III para sa pagsulong ng Philippine transportation.
Inilunsad ang nasabing EV pilot study sa mga lugar ng BGC, Makati City, Pasay City, at Mandaluyong City kung saan may mga kasalukuyang ng EV charging infrastructure. | ulat ni EJ Lazaro
