Ikinalugod ni House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs ang anunsiyo ng ilang kumpanya sa US na balak nilang kumuha at mag-hire ng nasa 75,000 Filipino seafarers.
Para sa mambabatas, patunay lamang ito sa kakayanan ng mga Pilipinong mandaragat at ang kumpiyansa ng international community sa ating mga manggagawa.
Bukod dito ay ipinapakita nito ang bunga ng pagtutulungan ng pamahalaan at pribadong sektor na maisaayos ang maritime industry ng bansa.
Sa pulong ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. kasama ang US employers ay sinabi ni John Padget, President at CEO ng Carnival Corp., na nais nilang i-hire ang Filipino workforce dahil sa kanilang hospitality at competitiveness.
“This is truly a momentous occasion for our seafarers and the entire maritime industry,” Salo said. “This development not only underscores the skills and expertise of our Filipino seafarers, but also highlights the confidence of the international community in our workers. This is a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment in providing our seafarers with better opportunities and a brighter future.” ani Salo.
Nagpasalamat naman ang KABAYAN Party-list solon kay Pangulong Marcos at Speaker Martin Romualdez sa patuloy na pagsusulong ng employment opportunities para sa Pinoy seafarers.
Umaasa rin ang kinatawan, na lalo pang yayabong ang kooperasyon sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at US sa pagbibigay ng trabaho sa mga OFW.
