Tiniyak ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na mayroon pang siyam na libong (9,000) metric tons ng buffer stocks ng bigas para ibenta sa halagang Php 29.00 kada kilo.
Ayon kay Agriculture Assistant Secretary for Consumer Affairs Genevieve Guevarra sa 300 na sako ng bigas sa bawat KADIWA Store kada linggo, sapat aniya ito hanggang sa susunod na tatlong buwan.
Inanunsyo ito ng opisyal sa kabila ng pangamba ng ilang grupo na mahihirapan ang DA na mapanatili ang programa.
Magtutuloy-tuloy pa rin aniya ang programa sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Dahil regular na bumibili ng bigas ang National Food Authority (NFA) at may pangako pang maraming harvest ang National Irrigation Administration (NIA) sa ilalim ng “Contract Farming Program” nito.
Sabi pa ni Asec. Guevarra na may buffer stock na kailangan i-dispose pagdating na panahon na maaaring ibenta sa mga susunod pang taon.| ulat ni Rey Ferrer
