Mas mabigat na parusa sa mga manloloko ng senior citizen at PWD, itinutulak sa Kamara

Itinutulak ngayon sa Kamara ang panukalang batas na layong protektahan ang mga senior citizen at persons with disability (PWD) sa panloloko o scam ng ilang indibidwal at mga sindikato.

Ayon kay ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo, nag-ugat ang paghahain ng panukala sa napakaraming reklamo na natatanggap ng kaniyang tanggapan mula sa mga senior citizen na niloko o na-scam ng mga walang pusong indibidwal.

“Sa kanilang pension o konting ipon lang umaasa ang mga senior tapos gagatasan o nanakawin pa ng mga manggagantso. Sinama na rin namin yung mga PWD na kapag ginoyo mo ay kulong ang aabutin mo. Kahit piso pa yan, makukulong ka pag-iniscam mo yung kaawa-awang senior o PWD, dahil wala kang puso,” sabi ni Tulfo.

Tatlong buwan hanggang anim na taon o higit pa, depende sa laki ng halaga na natangay sa senior o PWD dahil sa ginawang scam, ang ipapataw sa salarin.

Kasama rito ang panloloko gamit ang phishing, internet fraud, o telecommunications fraud.

Maliban dito, pagmumultahin din sila ng hindi bababa sa ₱500,000 depende sa itatakda ng korte o ang halagang katumbas ng kabuuang pinsalang natamo ng biktima, alinman ang mas mataas.

“By imposing stringent penalties, the bill seeks to deter potential offenders and underscore the seriousness of these crimes. The implementation of this bill would not only safeguard the financial assets of senior citizens and PWDs but also restore their confidence in using digital platforms for communication and transactions,” saad sa panukala.
