Kinilala ni House Ways and Means Committee Chair Joey Salceda ang naitlalang paglago sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.
Sa ulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority, nakapagtala ng 6.3 percent GDP growth ang bansa sa ikalawang bahagi ng 2024.
Ayon kay Salceda, sa kabila ng mataas na interes rates at hindi paborableng cost of living ay nananatiling matatag at tila ‘immune’ mula sa global conditions ang ekonomiya ng bansa sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Isa sa nakikitang contributor ng House tax chief ay ang Public-Private Partnership Code na nagpalago sa pamumuhunan sa imprastraktura lalo na sa local sector.
“Beyond the headline number, what is notable is the sources of growth: on the supply side, construction grew the fastest at 16.0 percent. On the demand side, gross capital formation grew at a remarkable 11.5 percent. The shorthand for that is simple: investment. The private sector sees the continued growth potential of the Philippines and is locking in,” sabi ni Salceda.
Kailangan naman aniya na palakasin ang suporta sa creatives industry.
Ito’y matapos makapagtala ng pagtaas sa manufacturing na kaugnay sa creatives, partikular dito ang printing at reproduction ng recorded media na nasa 43 percent at furniture sa 26 percent.
“I believe in the future of this sector, that is why I fought hard, as Chairman of the House panel, to keep the earmarking of 5 percent of revenues from the upcoming VAT on foreign digital services towards the creatives sector. It is often mistakenly said that the creatives sector will improve the services sector primarily. There are downstream industries in manufacturing that are inextricably linked to the creatives sector,” sabi pa niya.
