Umabot na sa 10,984 partner-beneficiaries ng Project LAWA at BINHI sa Western Visayas Region ang nakinabang sa cash-for-
training and -work ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, kabilang sa mga benepisyaryo ng programa ay mga magsasaka, miyembro ng indigenous group, senior citizens, solo parents, persons with disabilities at mga taong gumagamit ng droga.
Sa ilalim ng programa ang mga benepisyaryo ay sumailalim sa 20-day training at temporary employment upang tumulong sa pagpapatayo ng LAWA at BINHI sites at mga pasilidad.
Sabi pa ni Dumlao, ang mga naipatayong water facilities ay maaaring gamiting suporta sa irigasyon o patubig sa 447,935 sqm. ng agricultural sites sa rehiyon.
Ang Project LAWA at BINHI ay dinisenyo upang mapalakas ang agricultural productivity ng mga sakahan sa panahon ng tagtuyot, habang ang sobrang patubig naman ay maaaring magamit sa panahon ng tag-ulan.| ulat ni Rey Ferrer
