Agrikultura, gawing ‘cool’ para mas mahimok ang mga kabataan sa food security initiatives — solon

Itinutulak ni Bicol Saro Party-list Representatives Brian Yamsuan ang pagkakaroon ng ‘agri-cool-ture’ approach para mahimok ang mga kabataan na sumali sa food security initiatives.

Ayon sa chairperson ng House Committee on Aquaculture and Fisheries Resources, kailangan ng mga “cool” na hakbang para mas mabigyang atensyon at makibahagi ang taumbayan sa pagpapalakas ng sektor ng agrikuktura at kahalintulad na industriya gaya ng fisheries and aquaculture.

“Instead of saying ‘agriculture, I would say ‘agriCOOLture’. Why? Because we have to make agriculture cool. When something is cool – people pay attention, people care, people want to take part in it. We cannot do something about anything we have no knowledge about,” sabi ni Yamsuan.

Ilan aniya sa mga “cool” initiative ang paggamit ng social media upang ipaalam sa publiko na ang pagsasaka at pangingisda ay hindi puro paghihirap lang kundi maaari ring pagkakitaan.

“By making agriculture, and relevant industries such as fisheries and aquaculture, cool, we can raise awareness of their importance, and crucially, attract the attention of the youth – the future stewards of these sectors. Without their participation, sustainable agri-futures may be a distant goal,” sabi pa niya.

Ibinahagi naman ni Yamsuan sa 2024 Sustainable Agriculture Forum ng European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP) ang mga ginawang hakbang ng Kamara para mapataas ang productivity ng sektor ng agrikulgura at makahimok ng mga mamumuhunan.

Kabilang dito ang pitong batas para sa pagtatayo ng fish port at 35 fish hatcheries sa buong bansa.
