Muling iginiit ni Surigao del Norte Representative Robert Ace Barbers, lead chair ng Quad Committee na kailangan lang isumite ni dating Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque ang mga ipinangako nitong dokumento sa komite at maaari nang alisin ang contempt laban sa kaniya.
Kasunod ito ng pagbasura ng Supreme Court sa petisyong inihain ni Roque laban sa Contempt Order ng Quad Committee.
“…Once he appears before the committee and submits all these documents required of him, we will definitely lift the Contempt Order against him. So, ‘yun lang naman ang hinihintay namin. The reason why he was cited in contempt is because he did not submit the documents required of him. Again, ipinangako naman niya ‘yan,” paglalahad ni Barbers.
Ani Barbers, marahil ay nakita ng SC na ginagawa lang naman ng Quad Committee ang trabaho nito.
“Well, alam ko naman that the Supreme Court finds it probably hindi tama, hindi proper because the Quad Committee is just doing its job. We are conducting an investigation in aid of legislation and we would need testimonial evidences as well as documentary evidence, which again I would insist and emphasize that this was offered and voluntarily stated for the record by Atty. Harry Roque,” giit ni Barbers.
Sabi pa niya, hindi naman nila sinasabing ‘guilty’ si Roque sa pagkakasangkot sa iligal na POGO, ngunit kakailanganin ang mga dokumento na ito para mapatunayan ang katotohanan.
“So now if he will not submit these documents that is required of him, we might have difficulty in ferreting out the truth as to his involvement in the operations of the illegal POGO discovered and raided in Porac, Pampanga… wala naman kaming sinasabing guilty siya, but as he promised to the committee, isa-submit niya itong dokumentong ito to prove that he has no involvement and he did not benefit from the operations of this illegal POGO,” paliwanag ni Barbers.
Kaya naman panawagan niya kay Roque na makipagtulungan na lang at isumite ang mga dokumento gaya ng Income Tax Return, Deed of Sale, at kaniyang SALN.
Kung mapatunayan nga na wala aniyang kinalaman si Roque ay handa aniya silang makipag-ayos kay Roque.
“Very simple. Ang aming panawagan sa kanya, marami naman siyang kaibigan dito sa Kongreso and we just want him to be cooperative with the members of the Quad so that makatulong siya sa ferreting out of the truth. If in these documents that we require of him, we will prove that he has no participation or any involvement in these illegal POGO operations of Lucky South 99, then we would be more than willing to perhaps mend ways with Atty.
