Higit na mas epektibo ang ipinatutupad ngayong bloodless anti-illegal drug campaign ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. kumpara sa madugong war on drugs ng nakaraang administrasyon.
Ayon kay Quad Committee Lead Chair Robert Ace Barbers, kung pagbabatayan ang datos ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), mas maraming nasabat na droga ang Marcos Jr. administration at mas mababa rin ang mga nasawi mula sa lehitimong mga operasyon.
Nakakumpiska aniya ang administrasyong Marcos ng ₱49.82 bilyong halaga ng iligal na droga mula 2022 hanggang 2024.
Partikular na nasabat ang 12,183.65 kilo ng iligal na droga, kabilang na ang 6,481.16 kilo ng shabu, 75.69 kilo ng cocaine, 115,081 piraso ng ecstasy pills, at 5,626 kilo ng marijuana.
Kumpara ito sa ₱25.19 bilyon noong 2016 hanggang 2018.
“The recent drug seizures were almost double the value of drugs seized during the previous administration’s first two years in office, indicating that the larger volume and variety of drugs seized under the current dispensation was due to enhanced intelligence and operational precision, focusing more on major drug trafficking networks rather than street-level dealers,” saad ni Barbers.
Sa ilalim ng kasalukuyang administrasyon, nakapagtala ng 73 na pagkamatay mula sa mga lehitimong operasyon at 822 na pagpatay na may kaugnayan sa droga.
Higit na mas mababa kumpara sa mahigit 20,000 na pagkamatay noong unang dalawang taon ng administrasyong Duterte.
“The lower number of casualties suggests a shift toward more targeted, less lethal anti-drug law enforcement. This shift – from bloody to bloodless drug war – reflects the current administration’s potential emphasis on minimizing violence while still vigorously pursuing drug-related crimes,” ayon pa kay Barbers.
Sa unang dalawang taon din ni PBBM, umabot sa 122,309 na indibidwal, kabilang ang 7,364 na high-value targets (HVTs) ang naaresto kumpara sa 6,000 HVTs noong unang dalawang taon ng nakaraang administrasyon.
“Those statistics clearly refutes the claim by some quarters that the previous bloody drug war was a more effective approach or strategy than the bloodless anti-drug campaign…The Marcos administration’s bloodless anti-drug campaign resulted to fewer fatalities and drug seizures, higher concentration on strategic arrests, and increased operational efficiency, suggesting a potential shift towards a more systematic and less violent anti-drug approach,” paliwanag ng kongresista. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
