Nagpaabot ng pakikiramay at panalangin ang Estados Unidos sa mga Pilipinong biktima ng magkakasunod na bagyong nanalasa sa Pilipinas.

Sa pagbisita sa Malacañang (November 18) ni US Defense Secretary Llyod Austin, sinabi nito na binigyan niya ng otorisasyon ang US troops na nandito sa Pilipinas na tumulong sa ginagawang rescue, relief, at rehabilitation effort ng bansa.
Bukod dito, naglaan aniya sila ng US$1 million, na karagdagang pondo para sa humanitarian aid para sa mga biktima ng mga nagdaang bagyo sa bansa.
“I have authorized US troops and all the Philippine forces to provide life-saving aid to the Filipino people. The US have also secured another 100 million dollars in urgent humanitarian aid and that will enhance the work of the USAID and the World Food Programme.” -Austin
Ang pondong ito ay bukod pa sa $5.5 million na una nang ipinagkaloob ng US sa Pilipinas, sa pamamgitan ng US AID simula noong Setyembre.
Una na ring nakapagbigay ng halos 100, 000 pounds ng assistance o supply ang US sa Pilipinas.
“This new assistance will add to the $5.5M in aid already provided to the Philippines through @USAID since September. We also previously helped deliver almost 100,000 pounds in assistance to impacted areas. We’ll continue to stand with the Philippines during this time.” -Austin
Ayon sa US Official, isang patunay lamang ito ng patuloy na paglakas ng alyansa ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos sa nakalipas na 40 taon.
“I hope together, perhaps, especially the past 40 years has enabled our alliance to grow stronger and better. And you mentioned the exercise, it was your vision a while back, for these sites to be used to do exactly what you’ve described.” -Austin. | ulat ni Racquel Bayan
