Mahigit 800 sako ng oil contaminated debris, nakolekta ng pamahalaan sa pagpapatuloy ng Oil Spill Recovery Operation

Nasa 894 na sako na ng oil contaminated debris, habang 77.5 na drum naman ng waste for treatment ang nakolekta ng pamahalaan sa nagpapatuloy na clean-up drive nito, kasunod ng oil spill mula sa lumubog na MT Princess Empress noong ika-28 ng Pebrero sa Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

Kaugnay nito, ayon kay PCO Secretary Cheloy Velicaria – Garafil, una nang ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang pagpapaigting pa ng clean-up operation, kasabay ng pagtitiyak na magpapatuloy ang pagtulong ng gobyerno sa mga apektadong residente, kabilang na ang cash for work program.

“President Marcos has instructed government agencies to intensify their cleanup operation on the oil spill in Oriental Mindoro. The chief executive has also assured the affected communities that the government will extend assistance particularly through the cash-for-work program” —Secretary Garafil.

Aniya, ang mga eksperto at coast guard ng ibang bansa ay nag-alok na rin ng tulong sa Pilipinas, upang ma-contain ang tumagas na langis.
