Nanawagan si KABAYAN Party-list Rep. Ron Salo sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) para sa agarang tulong sa mga OFW na naiipit sa gulo sa bansang Sudan.
Aniya, kailangan ng “proactive measure” upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng mga Pilipino roon.
Para sa House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs Chair, “time is of the essence” na ma-repatriate ang mga Pilipinong nagta-trabaho sa Sudan bago pa man lumala ang sitwasyon.
Maaari aniya gamitin dito ang Assistance to Nationals Fund.
Mungkahi pa ni Salo na magkaroon ng ugnayan sa iba pang mga diplomatic mission at gobyerno upang mas mapabilis ang pagpapauwi o paglikas sa mga Pilipino sa Sudan.
“I call on the DFA and the DMW to immediately provide the necessary assistance and adopt proactive measures to protect our OFWs in Sudan so they will be safe from the turmoil. We can utilize the for their immediate repatriation. Time is of the essence. We need to evacuate our fellow Filipinos before the country completely submerges into conflict. I trust that the DFA and the DMW are on top of the situation” saad ni Salo.
Apela naman ng mambabatas sa mga Pilipino doon na manatiling alerto at makipag-ugnayan sa konsulado sa Khartoum o embahada sa Egypt kung kailangan ng tulong.
“I am also appealing to our OFWs to be vigilant and to contact and continuously coordinate with the Philippine Consulate in Khartoum or the Philippine Embassy in Egypt so they can assist in your repatriation. No Filipino should be left behind,” dagdag ng mambabatas. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
