BuCor, nakapagpalaya na ng mahigit 500 PDLs ngayong araw

Aabot sa 580 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) ang nabigyan ng kalayaan ng Bureau of Correction kaninang umaga mula sa iba’t ibang penal farm sa bansa.

Pinangunahan ni Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla at ni BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. at PAO Chief Persida Rueda Acosta ang seremonya sa New Bilibid Prisons sa Lungsod ng Muntinlupa na may temang “Bagong Buhay ay Pag-asa, Sa Pagbabago’y Matatamasa”.

Kung saan 76 PDLs ang napalaya mula sa maximum security compound habang 123 sa medium at 12 naman mula sa minimum security compound ng NBP.

Dalawang PDL naman ang pinalaya mula sa reception and diagnostic center, 31 mula sa Leyte Regional Prison, 69 mula sa San Ramon Prison and Penal farm.

Habang 23 sa Sablayan Prison Penal Farm,

39 mula sa Iwahig Prison Penal Farm

46 sa Correction Institute for Women habang

159 naman mula sa Davao Prison Penal Farm

Mula sa mga napalaya, 353 dito ang nabigyan ng parole ng pamahalaan dahil sa magandang record sa loob ng bilangguan, 61 ang acquittal, habang ang 102 naman ay expiration of maximum sentence with GCTA good conduct time allowance.

Ayon kay Catapang, asahan pa sa mga susunod na linggo o buwan ang pagpapalaya sa mga PDL na isa sa mga direktiba ng Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na mabigyan na ng kalayaan ang mga PDL na nagsilbi na ng kanilang sentensya at nabigyan na ng parole.

Ayon naman kay Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, magpapatuloy ang pagpapalaya ng mgaPDL sa mga pambansang piitan upang magkaroon ng decongestion sa loob ng bilibid. | ulat ni Arrian Jeff Ignacio
