Nangako si House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs Chair at KABAYAN Party-list Representative Ron Salo na nakahandang tumulong ang kaniyang komite sa isinasagawang repatriation efforts ng pamahalaan sa Sudan.
Sa pagdalo ng mambabatas sa isinagawang briefing ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), inihayag nito ang pagkabahala at pag-aalala sa mga kababayan nating naiipit ngayon sa civil war sa naturang bansa.
Aniya kailangan tiyakin na top priority ng pamahalaan ang kaligtasan at mabilis na paglikas sa ating mga OFW.
“The Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs will continue to closely monitor the situation in Sudan and provide support to the repatriation efforts. We owe it to our overseas Filipinos to ensure their safety and well-being, especially during times of crisis. We assure their families that their welfare is being taken care of by our government,” ayon sa mambabatas.
Batay sa paglalahad ng DFA sa briefing mayroong 750 registered Filipinos sa Sudan at hanggang nitong April 26 ay 456 na sa kanila ang lumikas para sa repatriation.
Pinapurihan naman nito si Philippine Ambassador to Egypt Ezedin Tago na tinutukan ang paglilikas sa mga Pilipino na nagtungo sa border ng Egypt sa kabila ng aksidenteng kinasangkutan nito.
Papunta ng border ng Egypt si Ambassador Tago para i-facilitate ang paglikas ng ilang mga Pinoy nang maaksidente ang sasakyan nito.
“I commend the efforts of our government agencies and embassy personnel for their swift action in responding to this crisis. We must continue to work together to ensure the successful and timely repatriation of our fellow Filipinos in Sudan.
