Ilang mangingisda sa Mindoro, pinapirma umano ng waiver upang hindi magsampa ng kaso sa kumpanya ng MT Princess Empress

Pinadadalo ni House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro sa susunod na pagdinig sa Kamara ang ilan sa mga mangingisda mula Oriental Mindoro.

Kaugnay ito sa napaulat na pagpapapirma ng waiver sa mga mangingisdang naapektuhan ng oil spill dahil sa lumubog na MT Princess Empress kung saan kapalit ng ayuda ay hindi sila magsasampa ng kaso laban sa kumpanya ng lumubog na barko.

Inilahad ng lady solon sa House Committees on Ecology at Natural Resources na may dokumentong pinapipirmahan sa mga mangingisda para makuha ang P15,000 one time financial aid at hindi na sila magdedemanda laban sa RDC Reield Marine Service.

“Nagpapapirma raw sa probinsya na hindi maintindihan ng mga tao ‘yung mga pinipirmahan. Pero ang malinaw doon na ni-report sa amin ay meron daw doong waiver na bibigyan daw sila ng one time na P15,000…at hindi na sila pwedeng magdemanda pa later on kapag nabigyan,” ani Castro.

Itinanggi naman ito ng presidente ng kumpanya na si Raymundo Cabial.

“Wala po akong alam sa waiver na ‘yan. Never po akong… ngayon ko nga lang nalaman na merong waiver na pinapapirmahan sa kanila,” sabi ni Cabial.

Nang matanong naman si Pola Mayor Jennifer Cruz, sinabi nito na may ilang ulat silang narinig hinggil sa naturang waiver, ngunit para sa bayan ng Pola, wala umanong mangingisda ang kumuha ng claims.

Aniya, tanging ang bayan na lamang nila ang pinaka-apektado ng oil spil dahil naroroon ang lumubog na barko.

Bukod dito, mas nais aniya nila na masampahan ng kaso ang kumpanya ng MT Princess Empress.
