NIA, target patubigan ang higit 146,000 ektarya ng sakahan sa Nueva Ecija sa papalapit na wet cropping season

Kumpiyansa ang National Irrigation Administration (NIA) na mabibigyan nito ng sapat na irigasyon ang mga sakahan sa Nueva Ecija ngayong paparating na wet cropping season.

Partikular na nakatutok na rito ang NIA-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems (NIA-UPRIIS) na siyang nagbabantay sa Pantabangan Dam Reservoir.

Ayon sa NIA, walang dapat na ipag-alala ang mga magsasaka dahil bagamat mababa ngayon ang water reserve sa naturang dam, inaasahan namang madaragdagan ang suplay nito sa pagpasok ng tag-ulan,  atay na rin sa rainfall forecast ng PAGASA.

Paliwanag nito, ang projected water elevation sa Pantabangan Dam ay 183.62 meters sa June 15 bago ang nakatakdang pagbabalik ng water delivery nito para sa wet season.

“Our farmers need not worry this Wet Crop 2023. We are only encouraging them to help in the reserve use of the water in the reservoir. We also ask them to follow the cropping calendar set by our Agency to avoid delay in water delivery towards their farms,” pahayag ni NIA-UPRIIS Department Manager Rosalinda Bote.

Bukod dito, patuloy rin aniyang naglalatag ng mga intervention ang NIA para matugunan ang mababang lebel ng tubig sa dam kabilang na ang cloudseeding program, Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) method, installation ng solar powered pumps, at pakikipagugnayan na rin sa DA para mahikayat ang nga magsasaka na magtanim ng high value crops para sa mga maapektuhan ng irrigation diversion requirement.
