Nagpadala ng 50 tonelada ng pagkain at gamot ang United Arab Emirates sa mga residenteng apektado ng paga-alburoto ng bulkang Mayon.
Base sa impormasyon mula sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO), kasabay ng ika-125 Anibersaryo ng Proklamasyon ng Araw ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas, dumating sa terminal 2 ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ang food shipment, sakay ng Etihad Airways.
Ang shipment ay sinalubong nina Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary (DSWD) Rex Gatchalian, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, at Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista.
“We thank the UAE government and the Royal family for their generosity in sending the much-needed humanitarian aid for those affected by Mayon’s volcanic activities,” ani Secretary Gatchalian.
Nagpasalamat si Secretary Gatchalian sa kabutihan ng UAE government at ng Royal family.
Target ng pamahalaan na maipadala ang kargamento sa mga residente ng Albay sa loob ng 24 oras.
“Ang role ng DSWD, in 24 hours naman ay maipadala sa Mayon ang mga goods na ito. Sa Miyerkules ng umaga nasa kamay na ito ng mga kababayan natin na biktima ng Mayon,” pahayag ni Secretary Gatchalian. | ulat ni Racquel Bayan
