Welcome para kay House Ways and Means Chair Joey Salceda ang nakatakdang pag-upo ni Monetary Board member Eli Remolona bilang susunod na Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas o BSP Governor.
Papalitan ni Remolona si outgoing BSP Gov. Felipe Medalla na magtatapos ang termino sa July 1.
Ani Salceda, bentahe ni Remolona ang kaniyang malawak na karanasan sa modern central banking lalo at dati na siyang nagtrabaho sa Bank of International Settlements at Federal Reserve Bank ng New York.
Inaasahan na rin ng Albay solon ang development sa central banking gaya ng digital central bank currencies at de-dollarization.
“Dr. Remolona was also involved in regulatory reform for much of his career, which signals a BSP that will likely continue to err on the side of caution when it comes to dealing with the banking sector.” ani Salceda.
Pinasalamatan naman ng kongresista ang aniya’y outstanding performance ni Medalla bilang BSP chief sa gitna ng maraming hamon gaya ng global market disruption.
