Pinaghahanda ng Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) ang publiko sa posibleng aftershocks ng magnitude 6.3 na lindol na tumama sa Calatagan, Batangas kaninang umaga.
“We should prepare for aftershocks. In case of another strongly-felt earthquake, may protect themselves by, mag-duck, cover and hold po sila and kapag may nakita silang, iyong bahay nila or structures are visibly weakened or having signs of damage caused by this 6.3 earthquake, then they should consult engineers.” —Dr. Bacolcol.
Gayunpaman, nilinaw ni PHIVOLCS OIC Doctor Teresito Bacolcol na one degree lower o mas mahina na ito, at posibleng nasa 5.3 na lamang pababa.
“We are expecting damages but again, siguro hindi ganoon ka-severe kasi malalim po ito, it’s 119 kilometers, unlike iyong mas mababaw.” Dr. Bacolcol.
Sa briefing ng Laging Handa, ipinaliwanag rin ni Dr. Bacolcol, na dahil malalim ang pinagmulan ng lindol, inaasahan rin na kung mayroon mang pinsalang iiwan ito sa imprastruktura, hindi ito magiging malala.
Matatandaan na pasado alas-10 ng umaga, naramdaman ang Intesity 4 ng lindol sa Metro Manila, Malolos, Batangas City, Nasugbu, Dasmariñas, Lemery, at Tanay, Rizal.
“Iyong lindol po na naitala natin ng 10:19 A.M. may epicentre po siya na 15 kilometers south, 64 west of Calatagan, Batangas; and may lalim po ito na 119 kilometers and it’s magnitude 6.3 po. And it was felt at intensity 5 in Calatagan, Batangas, in Lubang, Look Paluan and in Occidental Mindoro.” —Dr. Bacolcol. | ulat ni Racquel Bayan
