Welcome para kay Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga ang atas ni Pang. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa Department of Justice (DOJ) at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na imbestigahan ang hoarding, smuggling at price fixing ng sibuyas at iba pang agricultural product sa bansa.
Ayon kay Barzaga, ipinapakita lamang nito ang pagiging seryoso ng chief executive sa pagprotekta sa kapakanan ng publiko lalo na ang mamimili at mga magsasaka.
“The President’s order for the DOJ and the NBI to launch an investigation into the hoarding, smuggling and price manipulation of agricultural products is a welcome development which comes in the wake of the House Committee on Agriculture and Food’s own investigation into the matter. It only shows the Chief Executive’s seriousness in protecting the welfare of the public, especially ordinary people — consumers and the farmers who till the land to ensure that we’ll all have food to eat.” ani Barzaga
Positibo rin ang pagtanggap ni Barzaga sa hakbang ng Pangulo dahil sa kinikilala nito ang naging papel ng House of Representatives sa paglalantad ng mga nasa likod ng pinakamalaking onion cartel.
“The President’s order also shows that he had been following our hearings and that he recognizes the huge role it played in helping dismantle the biggest onion cartel in the country to restore the prices of agricultural products to its previous level.” Dagdag pa ng kongresista.
Sa isang statement tinukoy ni PBBM na batay sa resulta ng imbestigasyon ng House Committee on Agriculture ay may matibay na ebidensyang magpapatunay na mayroon ngang onion cartel na nasa likod ng pagsipa ng presyo ng sibuyas noong nakaraang taon ng hanggang P700.
Ang mga ebidensyang ito naman ang gagamitin para makapagsimula ng imbestigasyon ang pamahalaan.| ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
