DSWD, kabalikat ng PCO sa kampanya vs. fake news

Tiniyak ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ang commitment nito sa kampanya kontra fake news na inilunsad ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Kasama ang DSWD sa lumagda sa Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sa Media Information and Literacy (MIL) campaign ng pamahalaan.

Sa ilalim nito, isasama ang MIL sa mga social protection program ng DSWD.

Inaasahan din itong magbibigay ng suporta sa pamamagitan ng pagsasagawa ng trainings na may kaugnayan sa Media Information and Literacy (MIL) sa ilang targeted communities.

Tutulong din ang DSWD sa pagpapalaganap ng information materials na may kaugnayan sa MIL.

Ayon kay DSWD Undersecretary for Innovations Eduardo Punay, mahalaga ang
whole-of-nation-approach at kolaborasyon ng mga ahensya ng pamahalaan para mapigilan ang misinformation at disinformation.

“I know the necessity for a war on fake news and how this battle needs a whole of nation approach to be won,” ani Usec. Punay.

Ibinahagi rin nito ang ilang karanasan kung saan ginagamit ang pangalan ng DSWD sa pagpapakalat ng fake news na nagdulot aniya ng malaking perwisyo sa ilang mamamayan.

“Our experiences in the DSWD prove the need to come up with a more effective way to combat fake news,” diin ni Usec. Punay.
