Nakatakdang maglunsad ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ng isang cash-for-training and work program para sa mga komunidad na posibleng maapektuhan ng El Niño.
Pangungunahan ng Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) ang pilot implementation ng inisyatibong tinawag na Project Local Adaptation to Water Access (LAWA) sa Monkayo, Davao de Oro sa darating na Huwebes, August 31.
Ayon sa DSWD, tututukan ng proyekto ang pagbibigay ng targeted assistance sa mga mahihirap na komunidad na posibleng tamaan ng matinding tagtuyot sa mga susunod na buwan.
Sa ilalim nito, maglalaan ng cash-for-training and work ang DSWD para mabigyan ng additional income ang mga vulnerable, at marginalized families ng Indigenous Peoples (IPs), mga magsasaka at mangingisda.
“By helping communities adapt to the effects of the El Niño phenomenon and improve their access to water, this project would contribute to DSWD’s broader goal of promoting social protection and building the resilience of vulnerable communities,” ani Assistant Secretary Lopez.
Nilalayon din ng proyekto na patatagin ang pakikipagtulungan nito sa provincial government units.
Ipatutupad ng DSWD ang Project LAWA sa pakikipagtulungan sa Department of Agriculture (DA) at United Nations – World Food Programme (UN-WFP). | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
