MMDA, posibleng magpatupad ng road sharing sa bike lane sa kahabaan ng EDSA

Posibleng magpatupad ng road sharing ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sa bike lane sa kahabaan ng Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

Ayon kay MMDA Acting Chairperson Atty. Don Artes, kasalukuyang nagsasagwa ng pag-aaral ang ahensya kaugnay sa posibilidad na gawing “shared lane” para sa mga bisikleta at motorsiklo ang bike lane sa EDSA.

Ani Artes, magsasagawa ng pulong ang MMDA kasama ang stakeholders nito sa August 29 na dadaluhan ng mga grupo ng siklista at motorcycle riders.

Ito ay para makonsulta ang mga stakeholder bago sila magpasa ng rekomendasyon sa Department of Transportation–na siyang magdedesisyon dahil proyekto nito ang bike lane.

Matatandaang batay sa monitoring ng MMDA, maraming motorcycle riders ang gumagamit ng bike lane sa EDSA simula nang suspendihin ang ‘no contact apprehension policy.’ 

Nakatanggap din ng rekalamo ang MMDA mula sa bicycle groups na hindi na nila magamit ang itinalagang linya para sa kanila.

Batay naman sa pinakahuling datos ng MMDA Traffic Engineering Center hanggang nitong July 17, nasa 165,000 na motorsiklo ang dumadaan sa EDSA kada araw.

Pinaalalahan naman ng MMDA ang mga motorcycle rider na huwag gamitin ang EDSA bike lane. | ulat ni Diane Lear
