Mariing kinondena ni National Security Adviser Sec. Eduardo Año ang pag-atake ng NPA sa mga inosenteng sibilyan gamit ang landmine sa Barangay Bonifacio, Uson, Masbate.

Ang pag-atake, na ikinasugat ni Barangay Captain Democrito Rivera, Romneck Lumabab at Alex Balayan, pawang taga-Barangay Bonifacio, ay kasabay ng pandaigdigang paggunita na International Humanitarian Law (IHL) day nitong Agosto 12.

Ayon kay Año, ang istilo ng ginawang pag-atake ng NPA ay nagpapa-totoo sa kanilang pagkaka-pwesto bilang ’15th deadliest terrorist organization in the world’ batay sa 2023 Global Terrorism Index.

Binigyang diin ni Año na ang patuloy na paggamit ng NPA ng mga landmine na ipinagbabawal sa buong mundo ay lantarang paglabag sa local at international law.

Tiniyak naman ni Año na mabibigyan ng katarungan ang mga biktima at kanilang mga pamilya, at hindi titigil ang pamahalaan hanggat hindi nawawakasan ang 50 taong paghahasik ng takot ng CPP-NPA-NDF. | ulat ni Leo Sarne
