Waste-free election, panawagan ng Ban Toxics sa mga kakandidato sa BSKE

Umaapela ngayon ang Toxics watchdog BAN Toxics sa lahat ng mga kandidato sa Barangay at SK Elections na maging responsable at iwasan ang pagkakalat ng plastic waste ngayong halalan.

Ayon kay Rey San Juan, executive director ng BAN Toxics, umaasa itong magiging ehemplo ang mga aspiring na Barangay at SK officials sa pagtutulak ng isang waste-free election.

Aniya, dapat maging bahagi rin ng electoral agenda ng mga ito ang pagprotekta sa kapaligiran.

“We hope that candidates will be mindful of caring for the environment and refraining from campaign-related trash to make this election clean and waste-free,” ani Rey San Juan, BAN Toxics Executive Director.

Tinukoy ng grupo na noong 2022 National Elections, tambak-tambak na election-related trash ang kanilang na-monitor na nakakakalat sa pitong syudad sa Metro Manila at Bulacan.

Kasama rito ang mga campaign materials gaya ng tarpaulins, posters, flyers, at sample ballots.

Giit ng BAN Toxics, marapat lang na itong sumunod sa patakaran ng COMELEC ang mga kandidato at umiwas rin sa paggamit ng maraming plastic campaign materials na nakasisira sa kapaligiran.
