120 na mga bagong equipment, dagdag sa emergency response tools ng DPWH bilang paghahanda sa “The Big One”

Pinalakas pa ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang kakayahan nito upang mapabuti ang kapasidad ng ahensya tuwing may kalamidad kabilang ang lindol.

Sa ilalim ng Department Order No. 113, kinumpirma ni DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan ang mga patakaran upang isama ang mga kagamitang pang-emergency mula sa Philippine Seismic Risk Reduction and Resilience Project (PSRRRP) na pinondohan ng World Bank para sa paghahanda nito sa “The Big One.”

Ayon kay Secretary Bonoan, ito ay magdadagdag ng 120 na mga bagong kagamitan sa kasalukuyang mga ari-arian ng DPWH para sa emergency response, hindi lamang para sa potensyal na pagtama ng malakas na lindol sa Greater Metro Manila Area kundi pati na rin sa iba pang natural calamities sa buong bansa.

Kasama rin sa bagong order ang ponding nagkakahalaga ng higit sa P460-milyon para sa operasyon at maintenance ng mga kagamitan, na itinakda bilang counterpart fund ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas sa PSRRRP. | ulat ni EJ Lazaro
